First of all, the answer to the second question is Yes.
Why are we coaching “breathing”? A majority of the population are chest breathers (i.e. they don’t use their diaphragm to properly breathe). In our informal tests in the gym, we’ve seen that over 75% of our young athletes fall into this category. It’s pretty much an accepted fact that improving breathing patterns leads to better recruitment of the proper muscles and better stress management, resulting in improvements in athletic and academic performance.
